Key Requirements

Importing CBD vape products from outside of the UK involves several critical regulatory steps to ensure compliance with local laws. Here’s a concise guide on what you need to know:

1. THC Content Confirmation

The first requirement is to confirm the THC content of the CBD vape products. This ensures that the products comply with the UK’s legal limit for THC, which is 1mg or less. Reliable laboratory testing is essential to provide accurate and certified results for THC levels.

2. Emissions Test

An emissions test must be conducted to comply with the General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR). The CTA has expert laboratories that can perform this test. The emissions test assesses the safety of the vapour produced by the CBD vape products, ensuring they do not release harmful substances when used.

3. Compliance with TPD Regulations for Flavoured Products

If the CBD vape product is flavoured, it must adhere to the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) regulations. The same rules regarding flavours under GPSR 2015 apply. If a product is not directly regulated, the nearest harmonised standard must be followed, which, in this case, is the TPD. This involves ensuring that all ingredients used in the flavoured vape products are safe and compliant with established standards.

By ensuring these three key tests and regulatory checks are completed, importers can successfully bring CBD vape products into the UK market while maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and standards.
