In 2025, CTA launched Sector Strategy Committees (SSCs) to provide members with a platform to drive policy and innovation, and support your business directly through the CTA and its board.
We recognise that no two areas of our industry face exactly the same challenges or opportunities. Our Sector Strategy Committees (SSCs) exist to give each part of the hemp and cannabis sector a voice – whether it’s medicinal cannabis, CBD wellness, industrial hemp, veterinary applications, or legal and technical matters.
Urgent problems occur in this sector and by leading each SSC with a board director, our aim is to react quickly to your sector concerns. Each committee is focused on a specific sector and will meet online scheduled four times a year.
SSCs are open forums for CTA members to collaborate, raise concerns, identify sector-specific priorities, and directly inform the CTA’s strategic direction. Each committee is chaired by a member of the CTA Board, with outcomes feeding directly into our campaigns, advocacy, and communications.
In an anti-trust situation, the members can collaborate and exchange information within their SSC. It is the only legal way can meet and discuss business openly with each other.
Who Can Join?
Whether you're an innovator, grower, formulator, brand owner, or educator, you’re invited to get involved. Committees meet quarterly (or as needed), and participation is open to all members – with flexibility to adapt to evolving needs. Open to CTA members and their teams, and experts from various fields relevant to each sector.
Sector Strategy Committees are more than discussion groups; they’re a foundation for positive change across the industry.
Leadership
Each committee will be led by a CTA Board member who will report back to the Board.
This does not mean committee leadership is limited to directors - it serves as a possible stepping stone for future board involvement.
Information is passed rapidly through the SSC board member so that the CTA as a trade organisation can speedily react.
